Thorpe's Barber Shop

I googled great barbers in Durham. They had good reviews so I decided to give it a try. The atmosphere seemed friendly but the lady that works there is stuck on one kind of hair cut. Skinned. Military style. Even though i specifically told her I didn't want my hair cut short, she cut it all off anyway. Wasn't even enough left to curl. She gave me a buzz cut that I didn't ask for. This leaves me emotionally distraught as I didn't want all my hair cut off in the first place. I don't wear wigs, now im going to be forced to wear one because all i can see is my scalp. I really wanted to support this business but I can't return. "A great barber is one that listens," not one that does what they see fit to do.

I decided to do a big chop a month ago & I went to a salon to have a lady cut it. All she did was cut out my permed hair and left my natural roots. She didn’t try to make it look decent or anything. So my aunt recommended Mrs. Annette to me because she knows her well and she cuts her hair from time to time. I went and Mrs. Annette made sure I left out the shop looking nice! She pays very close attention to detail and noticed I had a spin in the back of my head from when I used to wrap my hair a type of way so she cut it accordingly! Faded it out beautifully and I absolutely love my cut! Would highly recommend her. She gives me tips on bettering my hair cut every time I go.

I think of Ms. Annette all the time! I left Durham in 2013. She always had me looking nice. I have only allowed certain people to shape my short cuts. I need to visit Durham just to say hello. She was a staple in the community who would not only take care of your hair but heal your heart! Thank you so much. Classy people. Time to ride to Bull City!

I have been a customer of the young lady that cuts hair at Thrope’s for a number of years.I must say she is the bomb and have gotten nothing but great compliments on the way she cuts my hair. Others that I send to her has been pleaded as well that means she gained another satisfied customer. I told Girl I said Wouldn’t think of going any place other than Thrope’s . The young lady takes pride in her work pleasing each of her customers. I have gone other places to get a hair cut and was not pleased with the cut, so I call on the young lady at Thrope’s and she would come through for new as usual. This young lady takes pride in her work. Wish I could post some the cuts she has done for me over the years.

The guy that cuts hair here, is extremely SLOW. don’t come here if you’re on a time frame. also his prices are ridiculous high for mediocre work, you pay $20+ for a shape up and when you leave it and look in the mirror NO CRISP lines ( doesn’t look worth it at all ). then you get a 15 minute service if that long but have to sit in the chair for 30+ minutes because he’ll stop every 5 to communicate with people sitting in the shop
