We had a half inch overnight snow fall today (Nov.26, 2025) which was pretty much melted by the time the paper should have been delivered. And none had stuck to the streets, anyway. But when I called to report a "delivery problem" the robot voice that they use said delivery was late because they were concerned for the "safety" of their carriers. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. For what it's worth, my paper is late three or four days a week. And at least every couple of weeks it doesn't get here at all. This has been going on for the better part of two years. So being annoyed by the robot voice is a part of most mornings for me. But here's the thing. I’ve been getting woken up by a Spokesman Review delivery driver nearly everyday for the last 3 months. I assume that the delivery driver doesn’t have his muffler hooked up to his exhaust because it’s the loudest vehicle I’ve ever heard on my street. Louder than any modified truck I’ve heard our street before. I’ve taken all possible and safe precautions to ensure I’ll not be disrupted during the morning hours, yet, the issue persists. I can heard the car up to two streets over even before it rolls down mine. This week alone I’ve been woken up at least 4 time between the hours of 4 am to 5am time-frames respectively. I have enjoyed some local news, but the vast majority of the news, especially as related to local and national government, I vastly far left wing biased. From slanted opinions to complete false stories about anything that doesn't support their support the Democrats. It's a shame we don't have a local news source we can trust.

I really appreciate that Spokane still has a daily newspaper, with journalists who are clearly more professional and better stewards of their profession than any of their national counterparts. Bigger is not better. Democracy demands courageous reporters who tell the stories that need to be told, even if it’s news we don’t want to hear. Kudos to the editors and staff at the SR for their commitment to maintain high standards in a difficult time.

As much as I want to support local journalism, the business practices of the Spokesman necessitate a warning to other people expecting a 21st-century customer experience. Customer care folks aren’t empowered to help much and the billing system leaves a lot to be desired.
