The Remedy Barbershop & Social Club

I got my first haircut from Shane in mid-March of 2020, just days before Covid hit, and I've been a regular ever since. In the last six years, circumstances have twice forced me to get my hair cut elsewhere in NW Portland, and both times I was disappointed. Shane sets a high bar. I'm picky about who cuts my hair, and I couldn't be happier with Shane at The Remedy. He's skilled with scissors, of course, but also with people. If you're feeling chatty, he'll chat. If you're taciturn, he's fine with that too. What more could you ask for? If Hemingway's "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place" were set in a barbershop rather than a cafe, it would describe The Remedy. Hyperbole? Maybe. But a good barber is hard to find, and I'm delighted to have found mine in NW Portland.

— Excellent Precision Cuts & More — The Remedy Barbershop and Social Club is my go-to barbershop and Shane is my go-to barber. I get an excellent precision haircut every 5 weeks. At the end of each cut, Shane includes a neck shave and a steaming warm towel. Complimentary beer, sparkling water or a whiskey shot is another added amenity also, the socializing comes free!

Purchased some wax melts at a pop up shop they did in front of Tough Luck and absolutely love the scent. Had no idea they were a barbershop too! Now I know what to gift my partner!

I was visiting from out of town and wanted to pick up a little something for my husband, who rocks a pretty sweet mustache. I stopped by this barber shop to see if they had any mustache wax. The barber didn’t sell any, but he went above and beyond by giving me a brand-new container of what he personally uses! Such a kind and thoughtful gesture. It's rare to meet people like that, and it left such a positive impression. What a great guy! If I lived here, this would definitely be my husband's go-to barber! Highly recommend!

Shane is one of the best barbers I’ve had. He really understands the craft. I’ve never had a bad haircut with him. He’s also created a really unique barbershop. The space itself feels like a mixture barbershop, speak easy, and recording studio. Very chill and relaxed feel. The waiting room comes equipped with a Nintendo game console. Finally for drinks, you get a choice of beer and whisky. Can’t beat that! Definitely worth it for a great quality haircut and an a unique barbershop experience.
