The Montana Standard

This newspaper is ridiculous. The reporters are ridiculous, especially Duncan Adams. In addition to the vapid, insipid, SHALLOW reporting, the Montana Standard preys on its readers by making it impossible to cancel subscriptions. Holding their readers HOSTAGE in order to drive revenue is sneaky and illegal. The Montana Standard is NOT RECOMMENDED. You cannot trust what you read in this rag and you'll get ripped off if you pay for a subscription, so why bother? Just say NO to the Montana Standard!! Look at their reviews, and you'll see why.

Their online subscription makes it impossible to cancel it. I got it to read one article about my best friends passing only for them to charge me $20 a month for months. They don't make it easy to get ahold of them and they don't contact me after calls, emails, and messages. The level of professionalism is terrible and predatory.

I would give them 0 stars if I could! Signed up for $1 to read ONE single article that was locked behind a pay wall, and now I'm down $80+ because despite cancelling and attempting to cancel multiple times (via website, phonecall, and email) I am STILL being charged $19.99 a month! Today I called, was on hold for 30 minutes, and then transferred to call center on the other side of the planet. The rep on the phone was trying to do everything in thier power to keep me subscribed, even though I kept saying "no thank you, please cancel my subscription. I do not want it." for a half an hour before they finally relented. This is SO predatory and incredibly frustrating! Do not subscribe to them!

Another one! Dj Khaaaaalid 🎶April 29th: I was informed it was “recently” cancelled (I have been trying to cancel since December,) and everything is “clear” and I’ll be on a “do not call list”. I really hope this is true. : April 25th I have been trying to cancel my subscription since December 2024. They will not cancel it. I had to cancel my card because they kept charging me. I just received a bill in the mail because the card declined. . February 2025 If you want to cancel your online subscription, you’re going to have to cancel your card. As a local paper, the Montana Standard is fairly good. Customer and internet service is a total FAIL however. As a 30+ year delivery subscriber, we often don’t receive a paper. I have tried many many many times to register for the online paper, but the registration doesn’t work. If our paper goes out of business, they have only their own ineptitude to blame.
