Surf City Beach Access #23

Parking is basically non existent. And the paid public beach acesss parking lots which is only 1 close at 6pm everyday. It’s like they are actively discouraging tourist from visiting. Wrightsville beach is doing the same. Their public parking beach access lots has all their parking meters with 30 min as the longest you can pay for at a time. So every 30 min I’m pulling up their app to pay until my cell died then it’s 15 min beach/family time then running to the parking lot to pay for another 30 min.

I am giving it four stars instead of five because the porta-potty was so full and almost overflowing that it was nasty. There also wasn’t any toilet paper. There are no wash off stations here. There aren’t any for the bathrooms, nor showers, nor foot washing stations. There are about 15 to 20 parking spaces though, which is very nice. This is in Surf City not North Topsail/Topsail nor South Surf City. So make sure you have the correct annual parking pass, if you are using one!! They will ticket you, if you have the wrong city’s annual pass. Surf City parking doesn’t have an app to do the parking with. So you just have to scan the QR code at the parking spot. You can park and walk right up a ramp onto the beach. There are trash cans there. This is to the right of the pier.

You charge for parking and provide restrooms but the restrooms are not usable not cool. Restrooms made me not so happy. Nice beach access but once I had to leave to use the restroom I said we will just call it a day. Wish I could get my money back.

The beach area was clean and a pretty long beach. It was also very flat. When you come across the Surf City bridge, this access is to the right off Charlotte St. it’s pretty close to the pier!!!
