I would rate this lower if I could. Think twice before subscribing to this paper. Why? My local paper (the Wichita Eagle in Wichita, KS) which is also owned by the McClatchy Group as is The State Newspaper in Columbia, SC offered me an annual digital subscription which I accepted. The problem began when the link to open the digital version took me to The State instead of the Wichita Eagle. The charge for the subscription posted to my credit card in less than three days. I cancelled the subscription the day after subscribing from the incorrect link in the email. However, it took over a month, numerous calls to The State's customer "service" department, emails to the paper's management team, and filing a complaint with the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs to receive my re

I was a subscriber for years until I moved out of the area. I called twice to cancel, was told I would not be refunded any money for the remainder of my subscription. I then asked the subscription be converted to digital and let it run out. Instead they auto renewed it and sent me straight to collections without so much as a bill. The content of the newspaper was quite good, but since they got taken over by McClatchy Publishing the customer service is atrocious.
