Star Nails & Tanning Salon

I really wanted to like this place because it’s conveniently close to my house, but unfortunately, my experience wasn’t great. I’ve been getting powder nails for years, and at every salon I’ve visited, they always apply a clear powder base coat before the color. This salon, however, skipped that step, and when I asked the technician, she told me it wasn't necessary. The difference was noticeable both in feel and appearance, and within a week, my nails started falling apart. On top of that, the staff didn’t seem as friendly as I’ve experienced elsewhere. Overall, I won’t be coming back.

At first I wasn’t sure if I should give star nails a try. I have two ladies that have been doing my nails and another one that does my wax for a while south of Westchester, however it takes me about 45 min drive (one way) to get to those ladies and I got tired of the drive. I love the work that Diana does - nails, wax & massage! She is absolutely the best. I’m glad I gave star nails a chance! Now is my to go nail & wax place to go.

Yesterday (Mother's Day) I had an appointment to get my nails done with a friend for her birthday. We got there around 11, it was packed and we were immediately separated. We were rushed to pick our colors and services. Although it was busy, by the time we were done, the place was basically empty and they were still open for several hours, so why the rush? The pedicure was lovely, but my gel manicure was a disaster. I told the woman "oval" for shape, she nodded and said "okay". My nails are not oval, but rounded square and completely uneven. I didn't want to correct her, because my nails would have been shaped down to nothing. The polish was applied well, however, very clean and even. Such a mixed bag of a place - do NOT reccomend.

It's my first time going to this nail salon, and I usually hate going to them because all they do is talk about people and they can be very rude, loud and money hungry. I am 8 months pregnant and ready to pop, I only went for a pedicure but got treated with the same respect and time. My techs name was nick, he was so polite and took his time, very professional and helped me out of the chair. It's was very peaceful, staff was professional ( not sitting around talking about their customers in another language) and everyone was very polite. I will definitely be returning to this salon in the future. I hope they maintain this type of atmosphere...always because it is definitely wonderful. P. S my nails came out great, thank you nick!!

the salon has been around for a long time and with good reason. It is super clean and the owner honors your appointment time (unlike other salons). Some technicians are Spanish speaking. My nails always look great!
