Ian is a brilliant stylist with an abundance of knowledge on all things curly. His creative direction and open personality allow for an inviting, educational, and personalized experience. I went in for a curly cut as a first time client, and right away, Ian saw the vision I had in mind. Not only did he help me realize the vision in a heart beat, but he explained every step of the process and gave me 30 years of knowledge in just one 90 minute session. From start to finish, the experience was well rounded, information dense, and unbelievably rewarding. I am not the biggest review writer but felt my experience here was worthy. I randomly walked into So Curl Hair by Ian Skolnik while visiting Carlsbad. I spontaneously decided to get a haircut. I was greeted by Amy who couldn’t have been nicer. Alexia Delayed her lunch to cut my hair. I am pleased I walked in. I am so happy with my haircut (in fact my favorite haircut in a long time). I will definitely be going back next time I am in the area. I would most definitely recommend them!

Ian at SoCurl is absolutely amazing! I just got one of the best haircuts of my life. Ian really took the time to understand what I wanted—and somehow gave me a look that feels fresh, flattering, and totally me. He’s not only incredibly skilled with scissors, but also warm, intuitive, and fun to talk to. The whole experience felt relaxed and uplifting from start to finish. Not one to really go out and spend money on a haircut but Ian and his staff are AMAZING. Ive been dealing with flat curly hair and curls that just wouldnt hold and Ian was able to bring my hair back to life. Staff were super friendly and Ian is a sweetheart.
