I moved to Stamford 3 years ago from the city and was seeking that neighborhood barber shop where you get a quality haircut at a reasonable price and feel right at home with your hair stylist. Mike is that guy! He provides more than a great haircut, he provides a welcoming experience. Mike makes you feel like you’re an old friend he has known for years or one of his close family members. We talk sports and world view, he makes you laugh- the time passes by effortlessly as you sit in his chair and he cuts your hair. Before you know it, you leave his shop with a sharp looking haircut and you may even learn a thing or two about life that you did not know 20 minutes before. I highly recommend Shippan Avenue Barbara Shop- make Mike your man, he is worth it! And Let’s Go Knicks!!

I've been coming here for the past 15 years. Mike is a great old school barber with a lot of experience cutting and styling various types of hair. He's also available to do appointments after hours as he lives close by. He's got a wicked sense of humor which is a treat ! And if you're lucky he will put your newly styled mug on his wall of Fame!

Excellent haircut, affordable price. Owner and barber, Mike is an intelligent, down-to-earth, hard-working guy. There will always be an interesting and genuine conversation on the chair for sure. Mike has been at this location for many years, and this storefront has been an old-school barber shop for decades before him. Honest places like this are becoming rare. Hint: Give the shop a call ahead of time to set up an appointment or confirm an available time slot before you head to the shop.

So glad I found this place. People (and barbers!) like Mike are unfortunately way too hard to find these days, he's a gem! My first time there and he was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and listened to exactly what I wanted. I have a pretty simple haircut, but the time he spent and the attention to detail was fantastic. Finding a new barber can be stressful if you care about your haircuts...glad I don't have to worry about that anymore!

Mike gives a good cut, and he's entertaining. Not much to say, a good local barber shop.
