First time client after 14 years of being natural i got a texturizer to loosen my curls and got my hair cut into a layered bob the results are amazing I love my hair and the service I recieved from Kiara everyone is super nice that works there i will definitely be back

My appointment was at 1:30 the lady who was supposed to do my hair Brittany didn’t start till 1:40 washed my hair then kept me in a chair for an hr and half I wasn’t under a dryer or nothing she just wanted to finish her other clients hair that was after me. This was my first and last time coming I ended up leaving I have work at 4 told her that and she still kept me in the chair this is highly unacceptable I was so tired from waiting I fell asleep in my chair. I will never be coming here again i guess they only prioritize regulars because they treated a new customer very horrible

Came in for a trim and silk press. The stylist Nekeia gave me a knowledgeble assessment of my hair as well as information on how I can take care of it moving forward. She suggested a hydration treatment (steam) in a sdition to my styling and I was very happy with all of my services

Pros: It was a good vibe. The stylists were friendly overall and various clients and stylists seemed to know each other well. There were playful conversations and arguments and I enjoyed the music and just being surrounded by the culture. My stylist Kiara did a good job with my hair. She was gentle with combing my halfway natural hair and the products used at the salon are good for coily hair. Cons: 3 hours for a silk press: I didn't realize when I walked in the wait time would be equivalent to purgatory as we endure the cleansing of our sins in order to see the pearlie gates of heaven. On their website as with a lot of salons there is a wait time period disclaimer where the styling of another's hair could cause delays in your own appointment. Fine. I waited about an hour. After doing my hair myself for decades I began to neglect, over process, and heat damage my hair. I looked for a natural black hair salon, read reviews and booked with Shear Essence. When I walked in the ambiance was very welcoming and my hair technician Janine did a wonderful job. Her knowledge was on point and her personality was amazing. Will definitely be going back to have them help me on my new hair journey.
