Scissors & Scotch

This is not based on the gal that cut my hair she gets 5 stars did a phenomenal job and was perfect.... the one star review is due to the fact injust spent 110 bucks for a haircut and beard trim and still have to go home and shave my neck because she not allowed too... unacceptable and should have been told before I spent 110.

I was referred directly to Allison at the ankeny S&S but was greeted warmly by everyone. I was pleasantly surprised that they actually had some solid Non-Alcoholic beers available for the included drink. Allison did a great job, and proved why she gets the fancy street-facing window seat. Best haircut I’ve had in a while. The “15year” plan is what I got which includes some exfoliating, face massage, etc. It wasn’t nearly as awkward as I thought it would be. Best haircut I’ve had in a while - love the setting

Ashley was absolutely fantastic!! I really liked how she gave her own opinion on what to do with my hair to make it look better. I always want insight on what would look best and I’m glad she spoke up and recommended certain styles and products for my hair! Will definitely be coming back to get my hair cut by them from now on

Easily the worst haircut I’ve had in years. I’ve gotten the same cut every 2–4 weeks for the past 15 years, so I know exactly how it should look. For $55, you expect a licensed barber with real experience — but the person cutting my hair didn’t even have a barber’s license. The fade was a 7/10, but the scissor work on top was a 3/10. It’s uneven, doesn’t lay right, and the hard part is so poorly done I can’t even separate it when styling. I now have to get another haircut to fix this one. The atmosphere is cool and the staff is friendly, but the service isn’t premium. It’s very “we’re on a schedule” and rushed — not the relaxing grooming experience you expect at this price point. They justify the $55 with an included scotch, but you’re not allowed to take it with you during the haircut.

I've used this S&S location for a while now. The staff is usually pretty friendly don't have much to complain about when it comes to the hair and beard trimming. However, for the prices they change, and the concept of the business, you would think that at least the bartenders dress the part. They are usually wearing very casual not very gently used clothing. A simple button down white shirt (pressed) would upscale the place. Also, it's November. For goodness sakes take down the Halloween decorations (which would be more appropriate for a Supercuts). Take it to the next level guys. Play the part of an upscale gentleman's hair cuttery. I would have send my suggestions to your website, but I could not find a customer service link.
