Hard sell by the service center when I wanted to cancel my $1.99 promotional 3 month online subscription. I got to the end of the promo and the Sac Bee editors pulled all their journalists from the immigration beat. That's the only reason I subscribed. So I called to cancel. They use a customer service center in the Philippines. I felt bad for the call center guy, but he faithfully read off all the alternative offers in his script before agreeing to cancel my subscription. It took me insisting over 5 times that I was sure I want to fully cancel my subscription, rejecting all the offers and discounts. The phone call lasted 20 agonizing minutes. Extremely frustrating and bad business practice. Also they don't cover the topics I want to read about anymore.

So we’ve been subscribers to the Sacramento Bee for over 15 years, we went electronic about 10 years ago. We paid $29.99 a month. We received an email from them last week and they informed us the price will be increasing to $53.99 a month!! They also advertised that for new subscribers an offer of $9.99 a month. So we called to complain and they tried to negotiate the price down, when we said we’re canceling they said that there would be no increase!? At that point we said to cancel anyway, when they asked what it would take to keep us as subscribers we replied “ give us the $9.99 a month price. Their rely was we can’t….we canceled. Way to take care of your long term subscribers Mr Bee! What a dirty outfit the Sacramento Bee has become!!!

As others have said, the journalism and content is not particularly bad but in this day and age, access to local news can be readily had either on local TV or the other online news outlet. In my case, I've been a digital subscriber with them for several years. I received a notice of charge of $107.99 on my credit card early morning on 11/27/23. Was on the phone with them within a few hours same day requesting that they cancel and reverse the charge on my card because I was no longer interested in being a member. I was told that they can cancel but the subscription is not pro-rated and that my membership would stop on 11/26/24. In another words, they don't refund and quickly referred me to their terms of service. SERIOUSLY?!?! WTH?!?! Now mind you, I NEVER received a notice of renew

I have given the Sacramento Bee every chance to show me it has improved. I have been disappointed every step of the way. After they doubled my monthly rate 3 months ago and only notified me of the rate change via email which I did not see (they send me 10+ emails a day through the digital subscription), I notified them that I couldn't afford the rate increase and wanted to cancel. While I had received email confirmation that my subscription had been cancelled and my account would be removed from auto-pay, I was still charged the following month. I called to initiate a refund and for the last two months I have talked to person after person and not one single person has been able to get me my refund. When I ask to speak to a manager or supervisor they tell me no, that there is no one el

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE SCAM SITE They continue to bill after you cancel. They even renew your subscription. No verification email or any evidence of any transaction. What a rip off. I got the paper for my 94 yo father and they are leaching off his C Card.
