REI - HQ Satellite Office

I’ve been a loyal REI member for years, so I was excited to use the 20% member coupon on a new pair of Salomon shoes I’d been eyeing. Imagine my disappointment when, after spending time carefully choosing the perfect pair, I got to the checkout only to be told the coupon doesn’t apply to Salomon products! This wasn’t mentioned anywhere obvious while I was shopping, and it feels incredibly misleading. Why promote a coupon that comes with so many restrictions? As a member, I expect more transparency about exclusions so I don’t waste my time. REI, if you want to offer value to your members, be upfront about your policies. It’s frustrating to feel like I’m being misled into thinking I’m getting a deal when I’m not. Do better.

The young lady working front desk last week at the Issaquah HQ office location (not to be confused with the REI retail stores) was INCREDIBLY rude. I was with my husband when he came in to get a visitor badge and she told him and I quote, "why are you here? Shouldn't you be a slave in Africa right now?" I AM SO DISGUSTED by this behavior. She said she was "only kidding" but I will report this to the higher officials.
