Pretty Lady African Hair Braiding

My first experience at Pretty Lady was good. The braider i had was skilled at braiding, was not on the phone, not talking and her station was decent. The braider suggested I bring human hair the next visit. I returned months later and the unfortunatly I did not get the same person. The braider I got this time was on the phone the whole time talking mad loud, she yanked my head and I had to constantly correct her on what I wanted. I paid her, but I told her I was not happy she got loud and talked about, "I showed you the first braid" but she failed to do all the braids the same size. It was a rush job and I paid $150 for a half head and I wanted a full look which she did not do. I also believe she had little experience in braiding human hair. Overall I was pretty tired going to Harlem all the time for affordable braiding. I found this place through Instagram and their Google maps. I definitely recommend the place. I did a wash and blow dry and the lady was gentle with me which is a plus. The braiding experience was quite nice compared to other places that pull your hair hard. The staff is friendly and can try to make sure your hair looks good. I recommend calling in to let them know, coming early, and have a style in mind. Overall , I love the experience and will definitely come back since it's so convenient with A train nearby and its in Brooklyn!

0/10 I DO NOT RECOMMEND AND IM REALLY DISAPPOINTED AT THE WAY THEY CONDUCT BUSINESS!! $140 down the drain. If I can give this place 0 stars I would. The lady braided my cornrows SOOOO TIGHT, she literally braided my tiniest baby hairs and thoughts 🙄 even after I told her to loosen them time and time again while she was braiding. My hair follicles were so swollen and I started developing little bumps around my hairline. I literally couldn’t sleep for 2 days. I took extra strength Tylenol and that didn’t even help. I did everything in my power to loosen them up, I used leave-in conditioner and ran them under warm water. After 2 days, I couldn’t bear the pain any longer so I took them out. I got boho braids, the curly pieces started coming out days later after getting it done. they only know how to do REG box braids. They lie about knowing how to do Boho braid correctly. plus the place is crawling with ROACHES. I had to keep my purse on my lap

Couldn't even tell you how the service is personally. For starters, although the site says "Call or Text", just call and maybe you will get through. Texting comes with long delays (understandable to a degree but not the 50+ mins I waited in between each message). I managed to recieve confirmation for the style I wanted, the price of the style and the appointment time only to be told upon arrival the following morning that the specific braiders who could actually do my style weren't coming in that day. A bit disappointing considering I even shared a picture of the style before confirming my appointment so there wouldn't be a surprise. Hope everyone else has a more positive experience and happy for those who have. Maybe this is what I get for trying someplace new as opposed to my loyal spot
