Customer Reviews
Truth be told. I am extremely picky about who my barber is. Previously I had the same barber for maybe 5+ years. Since coming to the city, i’ve always switched around but never quite found someone as consistent & truly knows how to cut hair and set the foundations right. Andres Cardenas was recommended to me by a friend of mine. Since going to him a few months ago, I am happy that i found a reliable barber that is local & does a good job, visit after visit. If you are very intentional with your hair. Book Andres, he’s honestly 10/10
Have gone to Bex ever since moving to Queens 2 years ago and the experience is incredible every time I get a cut. They’re an expert barber and have a natural skill of listening and bringing the style I want to life. High recommend them and O&F
One of the owners, Shawn Dixon, has a consistent history of engaging with customer feedback in an aggressive and dismissive way rather than addressing concerns professionally. Customers who leave honest reviews are met with hostility instead of accountability. Booked an appointment at the Greenpoint location. Arrived with shoulder length hair, asked for hair to still cover ears with a small fade on the sides. Provided references and detailed what was wanted from each reference picture, left with a horrible faux hawk. See images which clearly show references do not match end result. I suggest reading the owner’s public responses to reviews before booking. They offer an unfiltered look at how customers are treated when something goes wrong.
Came in for a haircut with Bex. I asked for 1 1/4 off the top and a 1 on the sides to give my style a trim, nothing too much. Post-cut review, my sides weren’t blended properly and I can clearly see a distinct area where the cut goes from a 0.5 to a 1. On the top, I got more than an inch cut off (it was maybe 1.5 or 2). I definitely wish I was asked or something “hey, can I cut a bit more to blend it here? What do you prefer?” Also, during the cut, mid conversation on a talk about movies, she completely stopped to scroll on her phone to look up something that we were talking about AND THEN stood there and talked about it for about 5-6 minutes. I definitely wish I picked another barber.
I’m in NY 2-4 times a year and will never skip a chance to get my hair chopped by Chris M. Never a bad conversation!
