I used to be a loyal customer… never again. I’ve been shopping at NYK beauty on Liberty Ave for years, since 2020, with my mom and grandma. We chose this store out of convenience and supported it loyally through many issues, but after everything we’ve experienced, I can confidently say I will never go back. The customer service is beyond uncomfortable. From the moment you walk in, your followed, watched, and treated like a potential thief, especially if your young. Every time I walked in alone or with friends, employees would hover at the ends of every aisle, staring us down. They ask over and over again if you need help, and when you politely say no, your met with dirty looks. It does not feel like help it feels like harassment. They follow you around the store and watch you as if you are going to steal. They need better customer service practices in place, not every customer is a thief and shouldn’t be treated as such or they are just flat out discriminating against black/brown customers. Either way my last visit was it for me as it felt over board and totally unnecessary. They are Asian and have one Hispanic employee / watched and asked me 3 times if i needed help like are you guys serious? I’ll visit somewhere where i can shop in peace.

Me and my freind decided to go window shopping and look at the products, AS SOON as we step FOOT inside of the store-a lady IMMEDIATELY followed us?!?Since me and my friend are hijabis they follow us around like we are going to steal something?! VERY racist manager, looked at me and my friend with a disgusting look. Never going here AGAIN.

I’ve been going to this beauty supply store my whole life, and they have definitely upgraded throughout the years. Their variety of makeup, and hair products are remarkable and the membership they started is really great for those who shop here often. The membership gets you samples, discounts, and more.
