I'm a Hattiesburg native but living in MD now and have recently been home due to my mother's passing. I came in 2 days ahead of the funeral, explained that I wanted a dip powder refill and the owner, Mary proceeded to do my nails with acrylic on top of the dip powder. Further, as a referral I was warned to ask for Mary's daughter Ann who was a better nail tech. I was informed that "Ann" was eating lunch but would be out soon to assist. This woman ended up doing the entire service which was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a nail salon. She was rough with the drill, scraped at least 3-4 of my cuticles to the point that they burned and hurt several days after. I went here yesterday on jan 19th, mlk jr day with my mom. My mom needed a refill, and 2 in a half nail replacements. I just needed a full set. Now when i sat down an old woman came to prep my nails. Ive never seen this lady ever work on anyones nails, she usually just sits somewhere in the salon.. but i guess since im a young teen she thought she could do some practice. not only did she file too much, but a got a small chunk of my cuticle. That hurt, but i didnt make a scene because i couldnt see blood, but it was burning and hurting like crazy and it still is. Now when the old woman gets up, a young woman comes to do my acrylic, and i have no complaints i love the work she did. Now the big issue is with the owner of the shop, Mary. Out of all the times I have been here today was very heartbreaking for me. I understand the concept of not mixing business with pleasure. But as a loyal customer I expected to be treated well. I was not upset about the wait times although I never had to wait with an appointment. But what hurt me is the fact I was told one price but after looking at my receipt an extra 10 dollars was added on for the services I received. I got a full set gel and my 8 year old got her nails polished. Full set gel is 55 and they charged me 20 dollars just to polish my 8 year old daughter nails. Anyway I asked what was the extra 10 dollars for because I didn’t agree to a tip. Further more as a loyal customer for them to down play me and put it off on my bank was so insulting. Let me start off by saying I haven't gotten my nails done in 10 years and i would rarely sometimes just buy press ons from walmart no I didn't have press ons on when I went in Wednesday Feb, 11th around 7:30pm I walked in not knowing what to expect since its been a while but hoping for some relaxing time of course so I greeted everyone with smiles. I asked for full set and pedicure. The pedicure was great simple glitter paint and gel finish and then we get to the full set. Now I know we're not supposed to mix business and personal life but Mary the one working on my nails explained to me she was going through some rough times with her home being burned down i did feel really bad and gave her my condolences and try to comfort her and give words of encouragement but if she was too emotional

I LOVE this place! The staff is always friendly. They are very talented and can do any kind of design or look. I never have to wait as a walk in. They stay open late and do quality work for a lot cheaper than most other nail salons. I will ALWAYS use Neat Nails by Mary!
