Mumy Awa African Hair Braiding

BEWARE of which chair you sit in!!! I’ve been here a couple of times and have been happy BUT my last experience was horrible! I went in and there was only one lady there, claimed the others was at some type of convention, so I asked did she know how to do Knotless braids and she said Yes. So I let her do my hair and they looked nice down but however when I got home and started to style them I noticed they were all different sizes and parts was different sizes and she didn’t properly install them. I called and texted the owner and sent her pictures and she said she would fix them and would let me know when to come in but she never called me back and stopped communicating with me. $200 down the drain and I will NEVER go back here.

Aicha has been braiding my hair since college and always does a great job! Plus a few others help braid the ends so it usually takes me about 3.5 hours from start to finish with my individual braids. Any time someone has complimented my braids I let them know to go here, highly recommend!!

I send them a picture asking for this hairstyle, she said they do the style, something told me to look at my hair before the lady moved any further in my head, I told her I don’t like it so far , three times I had to tell her to redo it, I even got up and showed her how to do my hair and she’s the stylus that said she knew to do here, Kept saying it looks good. It looks good but I’m not an idiot so I told him take it out., I thought you was doing a good job. She braided my hair so tight I kept tapping her fingers to relax her fingers. They tried to overcharge me and didn’t even know how to do the job. And wanted me to pay 120 for a rookie job

I hate that I even have to write this but, fair is fair!! I have been coming to this shop since I moved to Philly in 2010, ALWAYS had a GREAT experience...until now. Man oh man...I Got Senegalese twist done 2 weeks ago and they're literally sliding out. I went back and let the lady know. She alleges that she would fix it for me. I get there and she's doing someone's hair and then doesn't even acknowledge me. I simply walked out. You don't get to do that to me. As hard as you work for your money is as hard as I work for mine. No more business for me.
