Moya Professional African Hair

I feel like an African Queen! Awesomeness! As Army veterans, my sisters and I frequently visit Columbia SC’s Ft. Jackson. During this trip we were fortunate enough to fond Moya and her African hair braiding shop because it was close to the post. I cannot wait to return with my daughter. We had a wonderful experience and Moya and her daughter Portia did an amazing job as you can see from the pictures.

Love love love my braids !! I’ve always went to Ms Moya to let her braid my hair and she never lets me down ! Quick fast and affordable I highly recommend!

I called on Thursday for a Saturday appointment ( I know I was pushing it) but Mrs. Moya let me know she was waiting for her daughters to arrive from College to help her. She told me I could definitely get my tribal braids done. I did have my appointment pushed back but was in consistent communication with Mrs. Moya and they started on my hair as soon as I arrived. Her daughter did my hair beautifully and I will definitely return!

I will never, ever return to this place. I do have a lot of hair and I know it takes time- so I didn't complain with 3 different people (including the owners HIGH SCHOOL aged daughter) started working on my head. I have gotten my hair done by plenty of African stylists (Sengalese, Nigerian NATIVES, IN EUROPE in their HOME, and it has never been as bad as this "shop". I don't understand the language, but I do understand inflection and the daughter was not being kind. After my hair was done it was very stiff and heavy - that was fine because I knew it would soften up in time- after a few days the frizz started to show and parts of my braids started to fall out! I can only speak from my experience! I Wouldn't even give them 1 star. I got faux locs from this place almost a month ago, 2 days later they were unraveling. I went and had some fixed, 2 days later more were unraveling. I haven't had my hair done a month and my hair looks terrible, most of them are unraveling! I paid a lot of money and my hair basically didn't last a week. The owner basically wanted me to pay to come back again to fix them. For what?? They didn't do them right to begin with. I do NOT recommend them to anyone.
