I moved to the area a few years ago and have been on the hunt for a great hair salon. This was my third visit to Miyoung’s Hair Salon. The first couple of times, I came in for a regular haircut and always left satisfied. This time, I was in full “new year, new me” mode and decided to dye my hair for the first time. I came in with a few inspo videos but wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted. Miyoung was incredibly supportive and truly created something magical. My hair was previously dark black, Asian, virgin hair, and it’s now a beautiful brown with lots of layers — it even looks lighter depending on the lighting. I absolutely love it! Had to continue my review under another account: As a licensed professional myself, I find this ethically and morally troubling. Unless there is a legitimate health or safety concern, refusing service solely based on someone’s hair type is discriminatory. I am a registered nurse. I cannot imagine refusing to treat a patient because I am unfamiliar with their ethnicity or background. That would be unacceptable in healthcare, and it should be unacceptable in cosmetology. I understand that not every stylist specializes in every texture. However, I disclosed my hair type when booking. I rearranged my schedule. At every turn, the reasoning changed from product availability to curl pattern to length to fragility to price until the truth finally emerged that she simply did not want to work with

I have been seeing Miyoung to get my hair done for many years. Although I live out of town, I drive 3 hours for an appointment, because she’s the best hair stylist that I have ever had. She is incredibly patient and listens to me when I explain what style I would like. She has a knack for understanding what I’m asking. She has natural talent for hair cutting such that my haircuts grow out well and last for so long! No one else has been able to replicate her work, because other stylists tend to over-bleach my dark hair and when the toner fades, the appearance is ashy. I don’t know what she does, but the highlights turn out naturally. The salon is clean, neat, and professional.

I’ve been coming to Nam Mi Yong for over 20 years, and there’s a reason I’ve never gone anywhere else. She is a true professional—reliable, consistent, and incredibly skilled in both women’s and men’s haircuts. I’ve never had a single issue in all the years I’ve been her client. She understands exactly what you need and always delivers with precision and care. If you’re looking for someone who takes pride in her craft and makes you feel confident walking out of the salon every time, Nam Mi Yong is it.

I came here because of the great reviews, and I’m really happy with how my hair turned out. I asked for layers, and she did an excellent job. I’ll definitely be coming back! $55 bucks for haircut and wash and blow dry!
