I received a 16” 16” Hair & Natural Install service from CrownedByHer on Friday, February 28, 2025, ahead of my White Coat Ceremony the following week. As a first-time client, I accidentally booked a "Natural Install" without realizing that it required purchasing the stylist's hair. When I reached out, Melinda was kind and understanding, and we were able to adjust the service to a package that included the hair. I appreciated her flexibility and paid over $500 (close to 600) for the install and hair. The service itself went smoothly, and I came with my hair washed to make the process easier. However, after the appointment, I noticed the bundles used had a strong, processed odor. The smell lingered despite multiple washes, and even my regular hairdresser commented on it when I went to her

Where do I even begin? My experience at Melinda’s beauty salon for my sew-in was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. My stylist, Ms Michelle was an absolute wizard with a needle and thread. Not only did she possess incredible technical skill, but her creativity and attention to detail were evident in every stitch. Throughout the sew-in process, Ms Michelle worked meticulously to ensure that each track was flawlessly installed for a natural and seamless look. The end result was beyond my wildest expectations. I foolishly didn’t believe the reviews and realized exactly why this salon is rated so low. Instagram followers does NOT equate to professionalism. The stylist changed my appointment twice, second time was the midnight prior to the morning of my appointment after I already took time from work and drove 4 hours to get there. I booked an appointment for a sew in with bundles and there were apparently no bundles at the salon due to late shipment (why are you not prepared with hair knowing you have someone coming in and why not notify them at least 24 hours prior) …. When I expressed how inconvenient this was, the stylist blamed me for being inconsiderate lol. A joke of a “salon”

I’m a natural girl who occasionally gets traditional sew-ins, so I’m very particular about 1) the look of my installs and 2) the health of my hair underneath the installs. Michelle is one of the only hairstylists that I trust to do my sew-ins. Her techniques promotes healthy hair and her sew-ins are so seamless and natural looking. I recently tried a lace closure sew-in for the first time, and she nailed it! People keep asking me if it’s just my natural hair leave out and who did my hair. By the way, it is all sewn down, not glued down. Apart from her hair expertise, Michelle is very professional and pays attention to detail. It’s unfortunate that I find myself in this position, but Michelle deserves this awful review. I first booked with Michelle last December and I was pleased with her work. I really wanted to book with her daughter, who is well known on IG, but she was completely booked up. Michelle was a second option and I needed to get my hair done, so I just went ahead and booked with her. Is she talented? Sure. But does she also have a horrible attitude? Also, yes. While she can do hair, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of hairstylists that can do what she does AND with consideration for their customers.
