Al had been my barber for a few years now and become a trusted friend and advisor among many other things. So when my mother who was spending Mother’s Day weekend with me needed her Afro to be trimmed I was excited to have her sit in his chair. My mother had never had a professional barber experience before. When her Afro needs a trim she squally lets my cousin who was a military barber do it. She was nervous and didn’t know what to ask for but she didn’t need to because just upon glance Al knew what to do. He catered the experience specifically to her. He played Al Green and they chatted over politics within the culture and how things are and are changing. When the cut was over and he showed her she smiled ear to ear. This was my first time going to Mayes Barbering Atelier and I can honestly say I was very impressed. I needed a beard trim and lineup for my messy beard that I had been growing for month or two. My appointment with Al was at 11:00 and he started on time with no waiting. Al was friendly, very professional, and his skills were top tier. He took the time to get to know me as a new customer and what I was looking to do with my beard, which I really appreciated. The overall experience was worth the drive from Suffolk, and I highly recommend him if you’re looking for a barber. I will, without a doubt, be going back for the excellent service.
