Very uncomfortable experience. About 2.5 hours into my appointment with stylist Joia Williams — when the style was mostly done — the price was raised because I was told the braids in the back were “smaller.” While price changes were mentioned at some point, this specific increase wasn’t clearly discussed at the start of the appointment, and it felt like an unexpected upcharge in the middle of the service. When I questioned it, Joia became tense and loud. I was asked if other customers should weigh in on the price change, which felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. I was also addressed as “baby” and “girl,” which came across as disrespectful in a business setting. Joia has been my stylist for a few years now. Her braiding skills are unmatched as well as her ability to get my hair bone straight with a press and flat iron. I highly recommend Joia for your hair styling needs.
