Julia Dominican Hair Salon 1and 2

I have been going to Julia's for several years. I've previously seen reviews raising concerns about possible chemicals being used in their shampoo and "deep conditioner," but until now, that had never been my experience. Because of those reviews, I am always extremely cautious--I normally bring my own products and explicitly request that nothing else be used on my hair. This time, I made the mistake of forgetting my products and had to rely on theirs. Immediately after the so-called "deep conditioner" was applied, my scalp began burning. I asked what was used and was told it was only deep conditioner and that no chemicals were involved. That explanation makes absolutely no sense. My last review was 8 years ago, that should say enough. I have been going to Julia for 10+ years and I trust no one else to color and blow out my natural curls.

Elizabeth is the daughter of this dynamic duo. She skipped the roller set and went straight to the blowdry. When I get a stylist that can round brush my hair, I'm hooked. Elizabeth did this hair. I will be back. $75, added a $10 tip. Wash went well without tangling. Deep conditioning included in the $75.

So my original post is tagged. And I can say as a Black woman with natural hair, and the accusations that these salons get already, I should have known better. But this is the second time I’ve been to their shop. I did notice my hair different after the first time but thought it was heat damage the picture at the beach is my first wash after them and in the car. The second, wet hair, is today. I liked the shop because it’s always an in and out service, they are really clean, and nice and make sure you feel comfortable. And I loved that it was convenient, right next to my house, and a great price. But I am so so so hurt that I’ve been natural for 7+ years and my natural curls are completely destroyed.
