Judy Kay's Salon

Nice little full service salon. I stopped in for a nail emergency, and Carolyn graciously took care of me! Red shellac is not the easiest, but she did a great job.

I've only been there one time, to take an elderly gentleman for a haircut. So I don't know how good Judy is as a hair stylist for women. His haircut was fine. The reason for my low rating is because the place was very dirty. The chair she told me to put him in was covered in hair, and I cleaned it off myself and they saw me doing this and didn't stop me. There was hair on the floor all around the chair. I didn't understand why it wasn't swept up and the chair cleaned after the last customer left. It's a very tiny shop, and there was a young girl who I assumed is an employee just standing around when we got there. No other customers were there. I just think there is no excuse for the lack of cleanliness.

As a sweet surprise the day before my wedding on Oct 24th, my mom surprised me with last-minute manicure appointments for her and I. Judy was so kind to get us in on such short notice and the manicure was awesome! it was just the 3 of us in the salon and we truly had a BLAST! We had such great conversations about life and our sweet dogs; it made for the PERFECT special downtime with my mom before the big day and now I have those memories to cherish forever. We will definitely be back next time we are in Jekyll!

My experience was absolutely horrible here. We had recently moved to the area so I had been looking for a new stylist and I saw the reviews were decent here. I went in asking for a color match to just cover my greys. What I received was black roots when I have light brown hair. When I called to ask to have the color removed, I was told they do not carry color remover, but could get some in the salon "in a few days." I was in a wedding "in a few days." I paid $100 for a color and trim that I had to pay another $150 to have fixed elsewhere. My hair was so damaged from the horrible dye job. They never offered me a refund. I even tipped $20. I hope this helps anyone else who is thinking about having any color done here. Save your money, time, and hair health and go to ULTA.

She shouldn't even get one star after my experience! I walked in to see if she was available to trim my hair. She was already with a customer. The phone rang, she answered, wheeled herself over to the desk where I was standing. Booked that person's appointment. I was totally ignored as I was standing at the desk. She wheeled herself back to the customer they began chatting. Walked myself right out the door. Will never go back and would never recommend her.
