Joe's Barber Shop

My experience here was not a great one, if I could give zero stars I would. There was hair left on the seat and floor prior to my appointment, and there was no attempt to brush off or tidy up a bit when I was told to sit down. The barber reeked of cigarette smoke, which is his choice, if that bothers you. And through most of the cut he was leaning on me as if he needed the support to stand. The biggest issue I had was when I paid in cash, he just kept saying thank you over and over, without giving me any of my change. I don't know if he normally gets an almost 50% tip form his regulars, but I was not given the option to determine how much I felt the bizarre event was worth, so I guess that might be a normal exchange for him. It was our first time at the salon, and I am very pleased with the results. We will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend Sergio Joya. He took his time cutting, and you can tell he's really good at his job. We'll definitely be coming back for sure!

Was in my old neighborhood today and my 7 year son needed a haircut. We usually go to another barber (who also does great work) but the wait was a little too long for us today. Decided to give this place a try. Walked right in. Joe was very patient, kind and precise. Most places insist on using the clipper (which my son hates) but Joe knew his way around a haircut without it being a super complicated process like we usually deal with at chain haircut places. Plus he gave my son a quarter for the candy machine and a cup to catch the candy. When we left my son said that was the only barber he liked - and we have only been there once!! HIGHLY recommend.

This is not just a haircut. Joe's Barbershop is a modern version of the old time social experience that my grandfather loved about getting his haircut. You go in and as he cuts hair, Joe encourages everyone to be at home and talk. You learn from the other patrons and from Joe's wide range of interesting things to talk about. You are welcome to speak up, or not however seems good to you. The other places may have big screens or wine and cheese. Joe's has good hometown people who are fun to talk to and all the sports you need on the TVs to talk about. I look forward to talking to you at the barbershop!
