Japanese Hair Stylist Taka

My experience with Taka was exceptional. He was very thorough and attention to details. He has very unique haircut technique, and his hair style last long and easy to maintain daily. Taka took the time required and perfected the style to exactly what I needed. I highly recommend Taka.

Taka is very professional, polite and friendly. He pays lots of attention to details. I’ve requested several different hairstyles and he was able to give me exactly what I wanted. He takes his time and doesn’t rush through anything, no matter how late it gets in the evening. Highly recommend this place, especially for Asian hairstyles.

Taka has done my hair several times and it has always looked quite good after. I've had it cut and colored. This month I got mostly just a trim but he puts 100% care, effort and technique into every hair related task big or small. The funny thing is that it looked more blonde shortly thereafter. One of my friends thought that he had also colored it and commented that it looked good. I may see if I can get some root touch ups from him soon. An acquaintance of mine had colored it for me in the early summer. Then I went back to Taka for just a trim but somehow thru his magic touch he made it look lighter/nicer also.

I go to Taka-san for my haircuts every 3-4 months or so and he does a great job of making sure that I get the hairstyle that I want. He is very knowledgeable and skilled with asian hair (hard to find in Boston), which is why I always go here. He puts in the effort and is skilled with his work. Show him an image of the hairstyle you want, and he will get it done.

Taka is simply lacking the basic experience as a hairdresser, let alone being a stylist; he is a newby, in my opinion. People generally go to a Japanese hairstylist with the expectation of his/her knowledge of the Asian hair types and styles, and a Japanese hairstylist's competency and professionalism in general. (Being a Japanese hairstylist does carry certain market appeal, though there are many mediocre hairdressers too). And, in this case, Taka cannot meet such expectations. He is still learning on how to do even a simple haircut; a long way to be a real professional. For those expecting a good, professional cut from a Japanese hair stylist, you'll be disappointed.
