Island Glow Tanning & Beauty - Farmville

Michelle Walters does a great job of running her business. I like that she’s patriotic and has an American flag out front. Several weeks ago I went there for a tanning session, and I liked that she cleaned the tanning booth herself between sessions. Although I seldom go to a tanning salon, I really liked that Michelle shows interest and care towards her customers.

I’m so disappointed in my experience with Island Glow in Farmville! I had purchased a gift for my wife to give her on Mother’s Day which has turned into a nightmare. I purchased a (non contract) package for 99.00 +tax 108.00 which I was told included 15 visits within 30 days. I figured it was a great way to see if she liked her experience before possibly purchasing the 69.99 (3mo) package. Well here we are a month later and my wife has been charged $108.00 for another mo & she received a email saying that now it’s a reoccurring mo payment! To also add the only reason my wife was charged was because she had purchased LOTIONS while tanning!!! My daughter purchased a certificate for Christmas for me in dec of 2024. It’s good for a year. It was 2 trips to the hydro bed. The staff couldn’t find the information, then after sending them the information, copies of all emails and having a paper certificate, they proceeded to tell me I could have 1 trip to the hydro bed but needed to pay for part of it. All information stated I had 2 trips so why would I need to spend more money for 1 trip. The customer service is terrible. Instead of taking a hit (which was paid in full for) and allowing a customer to just use the hydro bed.. it became an argument. They sent me back $20. However I hope others learn from our mistake of using this company and find somewhere with better customer service. So much for bringing joy to us over worked tired

Local staff were nice. Management not great. I had an error/miscommunication on how to cancel my package due to staff thinking I had a membership. Unfortunately due to this error and being told they would cancel it, I was charged for another month. When I called to explain everything, it was told to me that I had a package I could have used the app to cancel. They told me that they canceled my package, but I wasn’t going to be refunded. Two stars given only because the local girls working were very nice and helpful.

I have waited a while before writing this review because I wanted to forget but frankly I hope this helps others if considering using this business. I had booked a Wedding Elopement package with hair and makeup for myself and I have never dealt with a more disorganized business prior to this. I had booked a spray tan the Friday before my wedding on Sunday. Then a week before my wedding it got canceled without being rescheduled. Something no bride wants to stress about a week before their big day. Through several phone calls they were able to call someone in since that date and place was no longer available to do my spray tan. The spray tan was NOT worth the money, it was patchy and not due to anything I did. I have had SEVERAL spray tans in my lifetime and this one was the worst one I have
