Humankind Studio

I have gone to Shelly for years, and it's fair to say that Humankind is her vibe in a hair studio. When you walk in you are welcomed by Shelly and Julia and can immediately join into whatever conversation is happening. It is extremely inclusive and it just feels you are meeting up with friends while having an amazing hair experience. Shelly is a true artist from regular cuts to curly cuts to balayage and fashion color, I have trusted my hair with her through it all. She has even cut my son's hair. She listens, is attentive, supportive, and has an eye for detail. I leave feeling like a better version of myself. Julia is an amazing addition to her team! I look forward to every visit.

I’ve been going to Julia for a few cuts and I just brought my daughter and the experience has been incredible. Julia has done such a great job with my color and cut (I get so many compliments on my color!). Today, it was amazing to watch how great she did with my daughter’s curly cut. My daughter left beaming with pride for how wonderful her hair looked and asked when she can come back again.

This might be my second review for Humankind, but I have to talk about Shelly and Julia!!!! I got married in October 2025, Shelly and Julia did my bridal hair, along with the entire bridal party. (5 bridesmaids, 2 moms, flower girl) We started at the salon around 9am, Shelly started my bridal look for the day, and then we headed to the venue around 11am. Shelly and Julia completed the bridal looks with time to spare before photos and the ceremony! We all felt and looked gorgeous and had so much fun getting ready together. If you want to live a stress free bridal morning, hang out with Humankind :)

I've gotten 2 haircuts here and I love it. Julia is very sweet and super knowledgeable about curly hair. She gives a lot of helpful advice about caring for curls in addition to the haircut which I really appreciate. Overall Humankind is such a welcoming environment. And their little bird Doug is adorable.

Shelly is a fantastic colorist and I recommend her to anyone who wants a colorist they can trust. Her studio is comfortable, her prices are reasonable, and she's great at talking through options and explaining what's best for my hair and aesthetic vision. The results have always been gorgeous as Shelly is a true artist. I first visited her when she was at Fringe Salon and my hair was not yet dyed or bleached. Shelly advised me on how to do a big change in a way that would be healthy for my hair. I have thick black, curly hair so dyeing it for the first time was a longer appointment, but Shelly got me some nice, bright color without frying my hair with harsh products. The products she uses leave my hair feeling great and still easy to style, and the colors fade beautifully over time, so ev
