Hollywood Beauty Salon Barbershop

I got my large knotless braids done by Erica this afternoon, and I absolutely love them. I arrived at the salon with my hair pre-washed and blow dried so that I’d be ready to go, I also brought my own hair bundles, but she can also wash and dry your hair on site. She listened to what I wanted and understood the assignment. Braids turned out so cute (posting a blurred pic for reference). Took about 2.5 hours which was not bad. Thank you Erica! Will definitely be back.

I’ve come here atleast three times now, so this review is long overdue… My barber JC is a long time NJ journeyman. He’s been cutting my hair for almost 10 years now, and I’ve followed him to each of his locations. (Gotta stay with your barber, when you find a good one) He’s had some ups and downs but he’s always positive, and lands on his feet. So if you’re looking for a reliable/friendly/local barber… JC’s your guy and he’s @ HOLLYWOOD BEAUTY SALON on Anderson st, in Hackensack… Also the owner of the shop, Erica, (and the rest of the staff) are VERY friendly and welcoming. She greets me whenever I come to the shop, and always acknowledges me on the way out. THANK YOU ALL, for such excellent service. 🙋🏿‍♂️

The braider told me on the phone that the Dutch braid would cost 40$ but then increase to 50$ when she was braiding my natural hair. My hair was shoulder length, so I don't understand why the price was too high. The blowout price was 25$, but then the braider increased it to 35$ so I had to pay 75$ to get Dutch braids. I couldn't reject the service because my hair was uneven due to being partly blow dried. My hair shouldn't be blow-dried if I was being charged 75$. I refuse to walk out looking crazy over someone's incompetence. Also, she asked me intrusive questions, but I didn't give her important information, I expressed my face and body language to convey that I didn't want to answer the questions due to being (uncomfortable). The braider told my niece to pay first before she did her hair. My niece was charged 50$ for two braids and 35$ for blow drying. Two people blow dried her hair because one of them didn't know how to blow dry her hair more efficiently. One of the braiders was asking intrusive questions to my niece. She was asking her do she have a job, where does she live etc. My niece was smart enough to give her vague answers. People who got going on for themselves don't ask intrusive questions. When I witnessed the conversation, I knew she was jealous of my niece. My niece was not impressed by what the lady was saying. went to this salon expecting a professional experience, but I was really disappointed. The staff seemed rushed and didn’t take the time to listen to what I wanted. My hair was uneven and not at all what I asked for, and the blow-dry was sloppy. On top of that, the place didn’t feel very clean, and the customer service was unfriendly. For the price they charge, I expected way better. Definitely not coming back.
