I read the newspaper on line because I can't afford the paper version. They are now putting ads at the bottom of the page that block what you are trying to read and you can't delete many of them.

I spoke with a male customer service agent last December (2022) and was told that my $20/year digital subscription would no longer be valid beyond December 2023, so I asked that it be canceled upon expiration, and that was that. No confirmation email, nothing notated on my account (on the front OR back ends, apparently) - nada. Imagine my surprise and frustration when a charge hit my credit card a few days ago for the FULL AMOUNT of a digital subscription! After speaking with representatives of both the Herald-Leader and McClatchy this morning, imagine my ANGER at their refusal to refund the charge, which I had done everything in my power to prevent in the first place. The first agent I spoke with (HL) was utterly unhelpful, and eventually transferred me to their ‘supervisor,’ who said

It’s more spam than a newspaper. I get 8 emails a day with the same news articles no matter how many times I hit “unsubscribe”. Plus I get 2 phone calls a day from then asking if I’m happy with my subscription. I’m not. I’m cancelling my subscription.

Scammers. They have a old guy sitting inside of kroger taking advantage of elderly women that don’t speak very well English and taking their debit card information and billing them non stop. Every time tried calling they hardly ever answer and when they do and hear you want to cancel they hang up on you. This is beyond than scamming. I will take a legal action towards this scamming company. And pull your scammers off from kroger!!

Paid for Sunday delivery and still haven’t received a single paper. I’ve called customer service and been told that I will receive the next paper and get extra weeks, but still nothing yet. The automated system can never locate the account either to report the missing papers. If I wasn’t getting it for such a discounted rate already, I would have already canceled it.
