Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa

This was my first visit to Hand & Stone in Northville. The receptionist was welcoming, the spa was clean, and my massage therapist was very kind. However, I booked a 50-minute massage with a deep tissue add-on and specifically requested firm pressure with focus on my neck and shoulders due to ongoing pain. I noted this on the intake form and mentioned it again before the session started. Unfortunately, the massage felt extremely light and did not feel like deep tissue. The therapist focused mostly on one shoulder (not the one causing the most pain) and barely addressed my neck. I left still experiencing the same discomfort. My wife and I received a couples massage gift for Christmas. So we ended up going. The place is very nice looking very clean. We have been to this place one other time before, last summer. We enjoyed our visit at that time as well. My wife and I enjoyed her massage very much. I on the other hand what's not as happy, I felt my first visit with a different therapist was a better massage. A woman that did mine, I believe her name is Jen, spent most of the time massaging my back on the right side. Not the left side of my neck but just a good portion of the time on the right side which I didn't really care for, I wish you would spread it out over my back. Kendra was absolutely an amazing job. Best massage I’ve genuinely ever had. I’ve multiple different massage therapist at this location and none have done this great of a job. 12/10. I am keeping my membership because of her.

Despite my attempts to contact the owner per the request below, there has been no attempt to reach out to me to fix the issue. Seems strange if the intent was to fix the issue. Up-sale Tactics: My daughter received a gift card as a gift whose transaction value was $119. The day she went in she received a facial worth $79. Then the up-sale tactics began at as an add-on to the facial for $30. Expecting that she had a remaining credit from the $119 to be applied. At the end the store employee said no, and indicated that the $119 gift card was simply a service card and once she chose a $79 facial the remaining value of the $119 was gone, into the pockets of the store. My Boss gave me a gift card for here and I am so happy she did. Dawn was great and listened to everything I said. She was very soft spoken, professional, and very experienced. I bought a membership and cant wait till my next one.
