Hairmates Salon

Hairmates is an AMAZING salon. I always go to Brooke Matook for my color and cut, she does a great job and is super friendly and easy to talk to. Her scalp massages at the shampoo are fantastic, nothing like i’ve experienced at any other salon. Book with her today to support aspiring young hairstylists with beautifully promising talent!!

The crappy part is finally I found a place where I liked the haircut but scheduling is a nightmare and this salon will often cancel last minute or be late for your appointment by 45 minutes. I showed up for my appointment this week to which they said unfortunately we need to cancel saying I input the wrong choice of cut online. After speaking with the manager later instead of apologizing she said “some people do have difficult times with online booking”. I’d rather have a bad haircut than have to struggle with this place again.

Be very cautious when getting bleach here. I trusted the process yesterday and ended up with severe damage — my entire right underside is visibly fried and missing. I’m not naming the stylist because she is genuinely kind and gives great haircuts. But she talks a lot during appointments and seems to lose track of time, and I believe that’s exactly what happened here. There was no timer used, and my hair was washed out in sections, far too late. From the beginning, I made it very clear that avoiding damage was my top concern. I even said I’d rather tone darker and use less bleach if needed — and that was totally ignored. After the rinse, I parted my hair for the cut and immediately noticed stringy, broken strands. Kris is amazing! He took me in within a day of calling for an appointment. We talked about what I wanted and expected and he made suggestions and listened. He wanted to make sure that he understood what I wanted and communication was key. Mind you, I have long hair and was growing out a very red dye job from a previous experience somewhere else. He is a wizard with color and his skill and vision are undeniable! A true professional all the way around! He was able to return me to my natural light brown color with highlights that accentuate and brighten the look. I have been going to Alexa Leigh at HairMates exclusively, and I love her so much! I trust her to the point where I just tell her to do whatever she feels that day and I am never disappointed!!! She always recommends the best products and I know she believes in and uses them herself (aka not just trying to sell it for the sake of selling it - she explains exactly what it is and why she is recommending it). I make the trip from Boston every few months especially for her!
