Hairbend the Salon

This is my first time getting my hair done in the AV and I made sure to do my research. I cannot recommend Hairbend the Salon enough and I’m so happy with my hair cut / color service with Alexis! Salon itself: Clean, welcoming atmosphere, great music, snacks and refreshments, everyone is friendly, alternative vibe, fun art and decor. Honestly everything I love! Love that it’s queer owned / female owned, and a safe space. Such a gem in the AV (I just moved to the AV after living in the Bay Area for 16 years, Ktown Mid Wilshire LA for 18 years). You have to fill out a questionnaire in order to book and I love the attention and thought behind it because it shows that the stylists will read your inspo/hair history allowing them to make the best decisions for your hair. I had a very bad haircut and color before coming here and was honestly so upset. Then I went to Raquel at Hairbend, and she completely fixed my cut and everything. From now on, I won’t let anyone else touch my hair. She is truly amazing. Everyone should go see Raquel—especially if you need a correction, because she knows exactly what she’s doing. People say it’s just hair and it grows back, but when you work in a professional setting, your hair matters. Thank you, Raquel, for fixing my hair and giving me the confidence to go to work without stress. I truly appreciate you.

I found Hairbend on instagram and they are absolutely up my alley. I’ve had a rough day and coming in absolutely raised my vibe! Queer-owned, safe space and they’re the first salon I’ve been to that’s happy to do outta-the-norm hair. Goth, punk, emo, alien- you name it. Friendly people, good vibes and no hater energy! They also use K18 products if you’re interested in their salon treatments or going blonde with minimal-damage! I wanted a mod-inspired mullet with angles and they delivered! The barber, Noah did the buzz-y thing and we had a great conversation about punk music. He also said he’d be excited to do skullets, which I feel regular hair places around here would turn you away from! Ares did the rest of the cut and she nailed it with the style! Great convo’s and we were all happy!

I’m very disappointed with how my hair turned out, I’ve had my hair cut by Kayla three times now this had to be the worst experience yet. I decided to add highlights, very minimal subtle sun-kissed highlights this time around and specifically asked for it not to turn out copper or orange and that’s exactly what she gave me, and on that note the highlights are very uneven very chunky in some areas and none in others. The result couldn’t be further from the picture I showed her. Before I left she told me I can come in another day to tone it I said sounds good. I text her the day after, no response. I texted her again, she finally responds with a day that she’s available. I then responded to her trying to figure out a time and what we would be doing to my hair and she leaves me on seen. Very
