If I could leave negative stars for this salon, I would. This was truly one of the worst salon experiences I’ve ever had. The atmosphere felt mean-spirited and unprofessional, and I left feeling disrespected and upset rather than relaxed or taken care of. The blonde stylist is incredibly two‑faced. She and the red‑haired stylist openly made fun of me in another language while they were doing my hair, right in front of me. At one point, they asked if I wanted anything to drink. I initially said no thank you, then quickly changed my mind and asked for just water. The blonde stylist turned to the red‑haired stylist and said, “Ugh, she wants nothing but she wants water,” and then they both laughed. I’ve been coming to do my hair with Linda at Hair Shapers Salon for over 20 years, she continues to amaze me every single time. Most recently, she did my hair and it came out absolutely stunning—better than I could have imagined! Her attention to detail, creativity, and care for her clients are unmatched. It’s rare to find someone who not only consistently delivers amazing results, but also makes every visit feel personal and special. I wouldn’t trust my hair with anyone else!

I've been going here for the past year and have consistently had a good experience. I usually go for a root touch up (which is about $50) and it always comes out spot on with the color. I also recently got a caramel balayage ($160) and am obsessed with it! See the picture attached. I think this is the best my hair has ever looked. Linda does my hair. She is the owner Dina's daughter. She's great! The salon is family owned which is awesome to support in the Astoria neighborhood where it seems like more and more chain businesses keep moving in. The past few times I've gone without an appointment, and can usually be seen within 15 minutes. I would still recommend getting an appointment to guarantee your spot but walk ins are welcome. This salon never disappoints. They do exactly what you ask for and better. Better than all those salons that overcharge and leave you upset anyway. I can even say they work miracles I have been going for many years and will never look elsewhere. My daughter tried highly reviewed salons in city for special curly cuts and came home in tears. Now agrees she should have came here in first place. It’s a gem and so are the owners Linda and Dina. Beautiful people and beautiful salon.

Today was my first appointment and I’m very impressed with the caliber of service. Dina and Gigi were very warm and welcoming. I received an Olaplex treatment before my blowout. Gigi gave a great scalp massage and thorough hair cleansing! Dina’s blowout was perfect where my hair was left without any frizz or static. I highly recommend these ladies! By the way, the salon is immaculate and cozy. Thank you, ladies!
