I’ve gotten kinky twists from stylist Kathy twice now and both times I have never felt so happy and satisfied with my hair. What I appreciated the most about both experiences is how she took the time to make it perfect! My first style held up so well throughout my busy summer, a testament to her talent! While in the chair she made sure that I was comfortable and was always gentle when handling my hair. Would highly recommend her services!

I recently had a horrible experience with HairbySusy and warn against using their services. I feel bamboozled. I got a style that cost over $1000. This style was with human hair and I was told would last at least two months. Within just three weeks, even with proper care (wearing bonnet at night, etc.) the hair was completely unravelling. I had to use rubberbands to keep the hair from falling apart. I asked for a refund and they said that they could not provide neither a full nor partial refund because they had already paid out the stylist. They offered a touch-up service, but I am out of the country. So, instead, they said that I could have a new free service when I return. I really hate to negatively review businesses, especially small ones. I’m making this review as a word of caution to people interested in coming here so they can have realistic expectations. I initially came to the salon on a Saturday morning, took my stylist about 30 minutes to start me, which is not abnormal in a hair salon. The stylist I had, was nice but didn’t seem as if she wanted to be there. When she asked me what style I was getting and I told her small, extra long knotless braids, she rolled her eyes and audibly groaned. She told me it takes a long time. This is when I thought, but didn’t say “I’m aware of that, but for $550 sticker price it’s not like it would be a hardship for her”. Today was my first time visiting Hair By Susy. I wanted a wash and quick straight back braids. My hair was done by Hair Artist Renèe. I told her I only wanted a wash, with no blow-dry and she was open to my request and didn’t show any reluctance. I appreciate her willingness to try and to listen to me as the client. Renèe took it a step further and sewed the hanging ends of the cornrows up just like I asked her. On top of that she asked me if I wanted beads. When I asked her about the price she said “don’t worry about it!” Not only am I pleased with the outcome/result, I’m glad that she as the professional trusted the process when I asked for something that seems to no longer be done (freshly washed hair straight into cornrows with no blow-dry). Great experience! If you don't know what color or style to get, Susy is amazing at coming up with creative solutions! Kathy was so quick, neat, with my medium knotless braids. The best part is literally NO PAIN. Can't recommend them enough! :)
