Godwins African Hair Braiding

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for over 30 years — longer than this salon has been open. This was my second visit, and unfortunately, it was a clear and painful disappointment. The issue lies with the owner and her daughter. I’m Haitian, and I understood everything they said — they knew my hair was being done poorly. One of the women even mentioned that the braids were too big, but nothing changed. When the owner passed by as her daughter aggressively pulled my hair, they laughed about it. I got this style done Saturday afternoon. By Sunday, I had to wear a hat. By Monday, I had to call out of work just to figure out how to fix it. That’s how bad it is. Rather than go back and argue, I’ll leave this photo and this review so others can decide for themselves. I won’t be returning.

Braiding was fast and neat however the middle was bigger than the other braids. The customer service was nice however; family members were everywhere, ( they live upstairs from the salon) a family friend came in held a long conversation loudly in my ear and all in my personal space

I absolutely LOVE this braiding salon! Everyone was friendly and professional. I brought my 9 year old daughter there to get individuals (her first time ever getting braids)and was pleasantly surprised. I was a little reluctant to leave her because of bad experiences I had as a youth, BUT Wanda (whom I believe to be the owner, who greeted me and and whom did the majority of my daughter's hair) made me feel so comfortable. I wish I had pictures to display the outcome of my daughter's hair, but trust me, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! The absolute best I've seen that was not an advertisement or in a magazine! I TOTALLY recommend this place...

My GO TO place for braids. I've been going for over a decade and they are always able to make a quick appointment. Sometime even the same day. And they are quick. Just got medium sized waist length boxed braids done in less than 5 hours and my natural hair is a baby afro so you know they put itn work! Some may think they braid too tight but I never have that issue. My hair is thick and very comfortable with being pulled since birth!😂
