I chose to see Rachel for a medical massage based on her reviews, and I'm still in disbelief at how terrible my visit went today. Finding her office in the building was super confusing; I walked up and down multiple floors, even going outside to look for another door. I finally found it, but was now late. As she took my insurance information, I offered her the referral paper I had, and was dumbfounded when she abruptly said that submitting that to insurance was MY job, and that she doesn't work for my insurance company. I apologized for not knowing the ins and outs of this process. Any time I have ever had a referral for anything, it's always gone to the provider, but how dare I make that mistake with her. I've had a lot of massages but always come away disappointed because I never feel like I got out of it what I was hoping for. Now that I've had a Rachel massage, I realize it's because what I needed with a tailored massage for my pain and injuries. Rachel listened to all my concerns and really customized her massage to my body's needs. There were areas addressed that only my PT had ever addressed so I could tell that she really knew how to hone in on the problem. Afterwards she was able to tell me about the imbalances and problem areas I have that are likely causing issues. Fascinating things I learned is that some of my muscles aren't engaging or helping and that I have plenty of muscle length and stretch but my fascia is bound up.
