After recently moving back to the deep South, one of my biggest concerns was whether I could find a salon that does curly cuts. Frankly, I don't see as many naturalistas rocking their curls as I see them covering, hiding, or manipulating them. And I definitely don't see any shapely cuts that highlight the beautiful uniqueness of YOUR curl. I asked several of my friends if they have heard of any good salons that cut curly hair, and all of them told me I wouldn't find it here. I was dreading whether I need to fly back to the DMV every few months to get my hair done when I decided to search on Vagaro. We had an amazing experience at Curl Envy Salon with stylist Kiana. This was my 7-year-old daughter’s very first haircut, and I could not have asked for a better stylist or salon. For years, I kept her curls in protective styles because I didn’t know how to manage her multiracial curls. She always wanted to wear her natural curls out, and Kiana made that dream come true. Kiana is a curly hair whisperer ✨️ She explained everything, asked my daughter for her input, made her feel comfortable, and even educated me so I could care for her curls at home. Alicia was the absolute best in the game, most importantly kind. She gets the curly hair life and is great at educating on how to keep it healthy. Honestly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had as a curly hair girl.

Several reviewers have commented on Didi. I did NOT have a pleasant experience with her. I thought about it for days following the appointment. It’s like someone forced her to do my hair. She seemed soooo bothered. She didn’t make eye contact. My hair isn’t complicated. I just needed a trim and had questions about length retention. While my hair was drying she went over and talked to another person. She was so cheerful and laughing with them. So I genuinely couldn’t figure out why she was so short and bothered with me. The salon could use some cleaning as well. I do not like leaving poor reviews, but there are more kind, welcoming, talented curly stylist-don’t settle!

I should’ve read the reviews but why would I when I’ve had a great experience with different stylists at this place throughout the years? Big mistake booking Didi. I only booked her because it was the closest date I could get with the desired time. The reviews are true. Very unwelcoming, irritable and little care about my cut. If the attitude was because I came in 9 mins late then I would’ve rather been turned away than to have a terrible experience. Excuse me from coming over an hour away in the pouring rain and GPS tells you at first you would get there earlier, then changes. Funny enough when her other clients came in she was talkative and friendly to them. That was the most rushed haircut I’ve ever gotten.
