Cudahy Plaza Barber Shop

Have been coming to this shop for 35+ years. The bad reviews don't reflect my experience; I think some of these people were at a different shop ( there are at least 3 barber shops in Cudahy with similar names ). I would give them a 4.9 just reflecting my experience today, Aug. 23rd ( Saturday ) when I arrived just before 5:00 and they were closed ( Francisco had 1 in his chair; didn't see Efren in the shop -- hope he's not sick). Their website lists their Saturday hours as 6 am to 6 pm. With the heat wave, I can't fault them for wanting to close an hour early if there were no customers waiting.

I have a rare genetic disorder called sasquacheitis that results in a concentration of testosterone exclusively in the outer skin layer. This results in an incredibly excessive amount of hair grown throughout my body, from my head, shoulders, knees, and toes. I was actually cast as the original Sasquatch for Slim Jim for their commercials, which was only for so long because they demanded I never shave my hair, which resulted in me quitting and getting replaced by a Kenyan superstar. I digress. I'm completing my PhD in linguistics that involves me visiting every city in the entire United States in order to document the linguistic shifts that occur from city to city and how larger trends emerge once counties align. Due to my condition, I require a haircut once every 4 weeks. While visiting

I went to this shop for about 5 years until I moved away. I had the hardest time finding a barber. Whenever I’d visit my parents I had to go there for a haircut. I moved out of state about 10 years ago. I came to LA for a visit and brought my 5 year old son for a haircut. We’ve tried many barbers where we live and I ended up being his best barber and I don’t do a great job. I have to say, my son’s hair looks amazing even when it’s not styled since his haircut! This place is the best. Don’t be fooled by genders. The lady barbers do a great job!

I was next in line to get my haircut. I had been waiting. Then a good friend of the owner walks in and gets seated before me. He looks over at me because he knew I was next in line. I was so upset and not about to argue over a chair at the barber. I left and never went back. If ur not a preferred customer expect to wait longer.

This Barbershop is unlike the newer shops popping up. They're open early & is run by polite older folks who cut hair in the traditional style. Great service at great prices & a peaceful and quiet setting. Very respectful and courteous.
