Cory Mathews Barbershop

I was a customer here about three years ago and had top-notch service, and the prices were very reasonable, so I decided to come back. While the shop still has the same charm I remembered, my experience with this particular barber was unfortunately horrible. My beard shaping was not done as requested, the hot towel shave was uncomfortable with no hand massage, and the chair movements left me feeling unwell at times. I hope this was just an off day, and I would consider returning to the shop, but I will not be using the same barber again. Update The owner, Andre, personally reached out to me right away and handled the situation in a way that truly reflects strong leadership and professionalism. He took full accountability, didn’t make excuses, and offered to make things right immediately.

This is a new shop that just opened up within the last 3 months and I'm happy to say they are a welcome addition. Andre did a great job not only cutting my hair, but my toddler son's too. He's friendly, talkative, and does an amazing job. Overall I am very happy with the experience and will be making them my regular barbers.

This is a fantastic place with great energy and atmosphere. Marvin, my barber, is young, smart, and incredibly talented. The owner is amazing, and Anna at the front desk is fantastic as well. I’m so happy I found this shop and can’t wait to bring my kids here.

(Before/After photos) Got my first cut here with Andre the owner and had a great experience all around. I have thick curly long-ish hair, and grew it out to the point where I don’t know what to do with it and needed some guidance. I wanted someone who knows how to work with my hair type, and most barber shops are all about fades and short cuts, but Andre mentioned that Cory Matthews prides themselves on scissor cuts first. Andre was very collaborative and walked through what styles would work best for my hair, while taking into account the ideas I had already. Exactly the kind of experience I was looking for! Will definitely be coming back here, they nailed it! ✂️

Amazing Barbershop in Somerville! I was looking for somewhere to take my son as he was getting older and deserved more than the kids haircut from Supercuts. My son loved it and got to experience what a real barbershop was like. My husband also switched over after seeing what a difference it was and how it offered more services for men. Another great thing is they also have services for women who are simple and just want a haircut and waxing. Bonus, the people who work there always have a smile on their faces, are kind, and helpful. They don’t rush, listen to what you want and take their time. Compared to what once was the cheaper and fast haircut places we all have gone too like Supercuts, Great clips, or Sports cuts which have raised prices & have longer waits after covid it was a plea
