Conteh African Hair Braiding

Not everyone in here can braid hair. I’m about to take my individuals out after having them in a month. The ponytail is so thick I can’t even put them up. The braids were not neat, the parts weren’t either. My hair was coming through the braids while she was braiding. Nothing to smooth it down. The braids in the front is longer than braids in the back. She didn’t even finish braiding them in the back once I started to complain. A waste of $250. This is not my first time here but it’s my last. The service was horrible also. Just a huge sweat shop of braiders. Sitting knee to knee with everyone squeezing past you. This is your sign to go somewhere else.

I wanted short single braids and was quoted $180, which felt a bit pricey, but I decided to go through with it. I really should’ve taken a picture of the final result because it was a huge disappointment. I waited nearly three hours just for them to start, and the stylist, Victoria, took her time—leaving to get food and talking on the phone. It was frustrating, and honestly, I shouldn’t have tolerated it. The place was also very loud. While doing my hair, Victoria kept saying, “You can trust me,” but the finished style was just horrible. The braid sizes were different (big in the front, small in the back), the sides were uneven, and the ends didn’t curve in—they were flying away! Absolutely not. Avoid if you have short hair, or any for that matter. Got smedium knotless and they cut so much of my actual hair. Parts were HUGE in the back and small in the front. They used such an unnecessary amount of braiding gel. It was oozing out of the base of my braids and my scalp was so itchy. While the service was fast and folks were mostly friendly, not all braiders are equally talented, and that was evident while looking around the (extremely packed) salon. The pictures posted are on their Instagram are the exception, not the standard! My family has been going here for several years and the quality has gone down in such a disappointing way. It doesn’t look like they engage with their reviews but please believe the current rating (2.8) and avoid going unless you have a prefer

Asked for medium braids…… got small braids with large parts. Will never come here again. If you tell them you dont like it, they dont offer to fix it. The braiding layout needs to be change for knotless. Everyones head isnt shaped the same, nor does every one have the same amount of hair. I do hair myself and wanted to actually get my hair done and i am very disappointed!

TERRIBLE! Zoom in on the photos! I arrive at 7:15 didn’t get in a chair until 8:30 and didn’t get started until 9 and ended at 2:30. Only one person on my head. I asked for medium knotless braids mid back and reminded them to make my part neat and even. Throughout the process I would remind her that I want medium parts and for them to be neat and she would said okay but that clearly that’s not what I got at all. I asked her to start in the back and she refused and started in the front. Parts are VERY sloppy in the back and NONE of them are the same size & will not be going back.
