Borderless (Hair: A Medium)

I’m not very good at styling my own hair, so I usually feel unsure about how to make it look right. But every time I visit Miwako, she somehow takes care of all of that and creates a style that feels almost magical. After each visit, I get compliments about my hair for at least two months. She has a great sense for understanding what I want and shaping it in a way that really suits my face. She’s an amazing designer who knows how to bring out the best version of a style. The salon itself feels like being in the middle of Kyoto. Just spending time in that beautifully designed space feels like getting a glimpse into Miwako’s philosophy about hair and Japanese culture. I highly recommend her to anyone who isn’t confident about styling but still wants a real, meaningful change.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Miwako for over 7 years. She has a real gift for nailing the exact sensibility and hairstyle I’m going for. Sometimes I’ll show her a reference photo or just describe what mood I’m feeling, and she just knows intuitively what will look best. What’s especially amazing about her work is that you’ll leave loving your same-day cut hair. The new salon feels like a retreat. Calm inside, with warm scents and energy. I can’t recommend it enough! Borderless is a special place to enjoy a haircut or treatment. It is sarene and calm but also deeply personal and comforting. Miwako is a welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable host who always understands what cut and style will work well for me. Her cuts grow out incredibly well, even after months. I highly recommend her cuts for something new or for a slight refresh to your current style. I recently tried the soba-presso reset ritual, and it created a profound lightness in my body and spirit. My hair and even face are glowing.

I booked the Soba-presso head spa treatment with Makiko and it was absolutely incredible! The treatment was so relaxing- I could literally feel the tension melting away with every movement. Not only did I leave feeling relaxed and recharged, but my hair looked noticeably shinier and healthier! Makiko is very professional and knowledgeable- she made sure I felt comfortable the entire time. The atmosphere in Borderless is so calming and soothing, perfect for unwinding! Highly recommend and I will definitely be back!

Love, love, love Miwako! I live in Manhattan and have been seeing her at various salons throughout the city and Borderless in Greenpoint is the absolute best. It is bright, clean and has a great overall vibe - the exact space you would want to get your haircut. They have also just added a head spa, etc… If you are looking for your next hairdresser, regardless where you live in the city, I couldn't recommend Miwako more. Fun side note: Miwako does hair for a lot of modeling shoots so always gives ideas on new styles!
