Bluemercury

I had an incredibly uncomfortable and disappointing experience at the Bluemercury in Bethesda Row. Within moments of walking into the store with a friend, we were approached by a staff member whose name I did not catch. She looked us up and down and immediately directed us to the discount table. I love a good deal, but her smirk and condescending tone made it clear this was not about being helpful. It felt like an assumption about whether we “belonged” in the store or could afford to be there. I ignored the interaction and browsed the perfume section in the back, where I found two fragrances I loved (La Mar by House of Bō and Mandarino Di Amalfi by Tom Ford). I purchased them elsewhere, where my business felt welcome. Luxury retail should come with respectful, nonjudgmental service. Pro

Bouchra was so helpful!! We had an issue with a product resulting from a computer system issue and she was able to figure it out -- and didn't stop figuring it out until it was resolved. Thank you Bouchra :D

I recently visited this store with a genuine and specific question about a product I was looking for. The employees didn’t seem to take my request seriously, and their attitude came across as skeptical—as if they didn’t believe I actually had a valid reason for being there. What made this more frustrating is that I’ve never had this kind of experience at the Dupont Circle location. There, the staff have always been welcoming, helpful, and respectful of my questions—whether or not I end up buying something. I hope the management takes a closer look at how their team is treating customers.

I do t have one of these in my state, but have visited in CT and CA. I was in the area and decided to pop in for a moisturizer. Looking for some help, I patiently waited for an associate to ask if I needed help. Told her I have mature dry skin. She showed me a mask and said I could use it as a moisturizer. I questioned the product and she handed me over to another woman. The other woman showed me a $800 routine for 3 products. I asked her if she had samples as I would hate to invest in something that won’t provide the moisture I need. She said no. So word to those of us who midlife and looking for a little extra moisture, perhaps try somewhere else. I found this odd as my past experience with Blue Mercury is that they have wonderful samples and most people try to introduce more than one

Maggie is a goddess!! I walked in looking for a specific primer, and Maggie spent a lot of time helping me pick the right one for my skin type and concerns. Then she helped me with foundation, concealer, and eye shadow and taught me how to use all of it. She spent a long time with me and I walked out with perfect makeup on my face and in my bag. She showed me a ton of products that I didn’t end up getting but she never pushed me to buy any of them. Would absolutely come to this BM again, especially just for Maggie’s help!
