I wish I could give it 0, but since you can’t I’ll give it a 1. My hair appointment was at 12:50, I arrived at 12:45. I checked in and the individual who was my stylist (do not want to share name) did not touch my hair till 1:30 for a wash. After wash I was under the dryer and she said it will be 20 minutes. The dryer went off and I was sitting in the chair till around 2:30. My appointment was supposed to end at 2:35. At that point I asked if she could just rinse my hair out and I went somewhere else. At the time of my appointment there were 2 other people ahead of me. I wish that would have been shared instead of me having to figure it out on my own. I then had to pay $15 for the wash. I feel that with something like that I should have not had to, because you could not get to my hair.

I had a great experience at Black Lotus Hair Company. The salon is clean, organized, and has a really welcoming vibe. You can tell they take pride in their work and I also noticed they offer a ton of services beyond just styling, which makes this place convenient if you want everything in one spot. Overall, definitely worth trying if you’re in Indy with good customer service.

This place is nice and clean, but I took away 3 stars for the following reasons (when I addressed concerns with owner there was no follow up or resolution provide): (1) I was told to “come as i am.” When I arrived with unwashed hair my stylist charged me extra for a wash. Clients should not have to guess how much service will be when they sit in a chair. All charges need to be clear and up front. I assumed when the statement was made “come as I am” the charges presented during booking included a wash. (2) My appointment was in the afternoon at 4pm and my stylist informed me that if I would have “come in at 8am she would have done a better job.” If the expectation is we pay 100% I expect the finished product to be 100% no matter what time of day I come in especially for the price I paid. (

This salon is extremely friendly and very caring for the community. I called to ask if I could come in to observe for a few hours and interview the stylists for a project for my college class and they were extremely pleasant and gave me a warm welcome! Even with the sensitive questions I had to ask they were so kind and understanding. They gave me some amazing & critical information I needed regarding the tools, hairtypes, and the cultural significance of hair to the black community. Even as a white person I know I will only come here to get my hair done, because these are professionals who know what it means to treat someone right when it comes to their hair! I thank them so much for treating me like family and being so absolutely kind even when I impeded on their space for a short while.

Even if you schedule days ahead expect to be in waiting area for an hour while braiders are eating wings and gossiping in the back of the store. Oh and 100$ for 2 corn rolls on only the top of my head is insane , must be because they “work on the colts players” probably will hear that bs everytime you walk in there. They abuse the fact they’re a black owned business.
