Where do I start? I have naturally thick wavy hair that I had been growing out from nothing for about a year, and it was finally grazing my shoulders. Since it had been a while since a cut and it was getting out of shape, I decided to go in for a trim. This started off well, and I showed her my inspo. But then things started going wrong. I said I would like a somewhat straighter style. And just like another review here (Kristen R) mentioned, she suddenly decided to do something different after talking with the stylist next to her. What happened next was absolutely shocking. She started cutting into my hair with texturizing scissors ALL OVER — without confirming with me what I wanted, without showing me a picture of what she planned to do, and without really explaining what she was about

This is a salon for people who love hair but hate going to get it professionally cut. These folks have taken great care to open the type of place they themselves wanted to frequent. I learned about them after posting about being neurodivergent, having just moved to the area, and needing someone to replace my stylist back home. Multiple people mentioned Bella Starr-including someone who either owned or worked at the business since it opened. I was encouraged to check out there website-and there-I immediately felt a sense of relief. Worst haircut experience we have ever had. Apparently, unless you see the owner, you will not get the haircut you ask for. They will actually decide to do something different than what you ask for, AND they are unwilling to make it right. I did not choose this salon out of convenience, but due to a recommendation from a friend, for my daughter’s curly hair. This salon is almost an hour from my home, and the haircut itself took 2 HOURS! I spent 4 hours in total for this stylist to cut my daughter’s hair. The stylist had no idea how to style curly hair, and after my daughter was able to style it herself, we realized what an awful haircut she received. Additionally, my daughter asked to keep her hair long, and really wanted to focus on the layers to get the look from the inspo picture. I work

Best hair cut and color correction I’ve had in a LONG time. I wanted bangs 🫣😬 and layers. I also needed help with old overtone color that left some of my hair with an unfortunate hue. Emma understands curly hair, gave me a really cute cut, AND fixed the color. I’m really happy.

Sarah is excellent with color and trimmed my hair nicely. She has been trained by Aveda and confidently does great work on hair. I already scheduled my next appt with her. Pay attention to location! At the time of my appt, they had only just moved in to that location on 7th Street. It is a nice space with great light. Second Visit Update: same great service and beautiful results. Really enjoy Sarah's expertise. Will continue going here.
