Astan African Hairbraiding

Come here if you are looking for someone to come and PLAY in your hair! Now I am not the type of person to leave reviews whether the service was excellent or awful. But I am sharing my experience as a cautionary tale to anyone who is thinking about getting serviced here. I came in earlier and asked the owner if she could do these fulani braid + quick weave style with body wave hair. She confidently assured me she could and I left to buy my three bundles and came back the later in the day to get serviced. I was expecting the fulani braids to be a bit larger but they gave me extra small micro braids for whatever reason and had the bundles sewed in horrendously. When I told the owner I was upset at the result, she blamed me for using body wave hair instead of curly or kinky hair. I immed

Best I can say is the people are nice. But the braids were complete amateur work (and they wanted to charge me $60 for basic cornrows lol, I ended up paying $30) Anyway, the entire experience was painful and the end result was terrible. Uneven braids, overly tight, way too much gel, list goes on. Pics speak for themselves. I’m getting it undone and rebraided right now as I type this. They seem to do great with women’s hair based on reviews, but I’m certainly not coming back again I bumped up to 2 stars because I was able to get someone immediately after walking in

If you're looking for a great hairstylist. Stop by ASTAN Professional African Hair Braiding Salon located in Brooklyn (Bed Stuy area) on 135 Malcolm X Blvd. This particular hair style, I got the Lemonade Braids. Fatima did my hair and I can honestly say I loved it. From the moment I left her shop I received several compliments. The style didn't take long, she was super fast and she doesn't braid tight. The design of the part of the cornrows are beautiful. I just Love them and the color!

There's good energy in the salon. Four different stylists have braided my hair. I'm always pleased. Once the style is complete, you can return to place braids in a ponytail, curl ends, make an up-do, etc. at no extra charge.

Fatima was very nice fast and made sure I liked what she was doing was done in 4 1/2 hrs in and out love my hair !!!! She also does my son’s hair very nice !!!
