Amber + Slate Aveda Salon

I visited Amber and Slate for the first time this week and booked with Ashley for a solid color. The salon has a cozy, relaxing ambiance that just feels good when you walk in. Ashley was awesome. She was very accommodating, professional and skilled. She also went way out of her way to make sure I left feeling wonderful. On top of it all, the prices are highly affordable for such great service. I found my new go to place!

I have been an Aveda Salon client for over 22 years, receiving bleaching, highlights, lowlights, toners, haircuts, and treatments, and I have never experienced serious issues until my visits to Amber + Slate Aveda Salon in Newport News, VA. First Visit – July 2, 2025 I spent approximately 6.5 hours at the salon and paid $630 plus a $30 tip (total $660). The stylist did an excellent job, and I was satisfied with both the service and the results. Second Visit – August 27, 2025 I paid $360 plus tip with the same stylist. I was advised to return every 6–8 weeks for root touch-ups and was told that touching up less than one inch of black root growth would cost approximately half the original price, estimated at around $315. Love this place! Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. You’ll be greeted as you walk in and offered coffee, tea, or sparkling water - plus snacks. The salon is kept clean with simple, contemporary decor. Oribe and Aveda products are used, and your hair will feel and look incredible. I always leave feeling so much better than when I arrived!

Ashlyn did a great job highlighting my daughter’s hair. She has been to her serval times now & is happy every time. (We are hard to please customers.)

Love going to Amber and Slate. I have never had a bad haircut, no matter the stylist. Ashlynn and Jess are my favs-always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you leave with the cut/style you want.
